The Performance of a GT with the Streetability of a Carrera
Positioned between the more pedestrian base Carrera / Carrera S and the track-ready GT3 / 3RS the GTS is like the middle child that everyone tends to forget. I became an owner of a 997 GTS almost by accident. The longer I owned the 997 (backstory) and then the 991 (backstory), the more attached I became to the model. Wanting to learn everything about the GTS, I noticed how little was written about it.
Consider Porsche 911: 50 Years as just one example. While highly rated as a comprehensive work on the 911 line-up, outside of a few photos in the margins, there is no meaningful coverage of the GTS.
The GTS badge is historically significant not only for Porsche, but also for other manufacturers. All are worthy of our admiration, and will be given their recognition in time.
For us, the 911 GTS represents the perfect spec. Dismissed by many as merely a marketing exercise, we’ll work to change their minds here.
